Day 31- Greenfield, IN > Richmond, IN (53 miles)

 June 8

We rode through Knightstown, IN today and visited the gym where Hoosiers was filmed - sort of a true story. There is no magic in this gym because I threw bricks and air balls just like I do on all basketball courts; however, I did stop shooting after I hit a 3. It was a real treat today. This movie has to be in the top 3 sports movies ever. I know I have given some colorful movie recommendations, but this one is for the whole family - probably Gene Hackman's best flick... See photos below:

Griffin guys acting like we still like each other.
This is most of the crew that is doing the ride including some of the staff.

Yep, we looked like clowns in our lycra shooting hoops.

Quote of the day has to be from Coach Norman Dale (Gene Hackman) in Hoosiers: "If you put your effort and concentration into playing to your potential, to be the best that you can be, I don't care what the scoreboard says at the end of the game, in my book we're gonna be winners."

The route for today (look closely and you will see something blue on the right of the map that better be an ocean).

The ride today was a good one as we sort of took it easy; wind helped a little but was across us mostly, and we had good cloud cover. We did have an accident today in our group as one of the guys ran into the back of a car and will miss a few days of the ride. We're hoping that he gets better quickly as it was fairly minor but still scary. We stopped about 3 or 4 miles from the hotel and grabbed lunch with a bunch of folks from our group - good times. We had Cracker Barrel for dinner, and I ate for 3.

We have a tough 4 days ahead of us as we ride 386 miles and get back into some climbing...one day at a time starting with 105 miles tomorrow that takes us into OHIO. We've logged 2,437 miles so far and have a little less than 1,000 to go. Thanks for your prayers, texts, and humor

Final thoughts...

June 26 We drove home from Boston on Sat/Sun, and the transition from seeing the roads as a cyclist versus driving a car was a little bizarr...
