And so, it begins...

Apr 30 - Thanks for checking out my attempt to capture an adventure with some of my buddies (Raff, Stuart, and Bill) as we ride bicycles across the US. We start in Manhattan Beach (Los Angeles) and ride to Revere Beach (Boston). We will be riding from May 5 - June 22 and will average 83 miles a day.  See below...https://bigdreambiketours.com/cross-country-bike-tour-map/

If you live near our path, we'd love to see you, so send me a note, and we'll work on it. This trip has been a bucket list item for our group, and we are all excited and grateful to be able to do something like this. We hired a company (https://bigdreambiketours.com/) for this odyssey, and they move our luggage from hotel to hotel each night and provide support along the way. We debated doing all logistics ourselves and having sherpas follow us, and I am certain that we made the right call to hire professionals.

We booked this trip about a year ago and have been spending a bunch of time in the saddle getting prepared. While we have done many rides together and with other friends, most of our training has been done alone (with our demons); this also ensured that the four of us still had stuff to talk (and argue) about once we started the trip. I listen to books on Audible while I am riding, and I will be referencing some of my favorite quotes from books that I read while training. I have also come up with a simple graphic that I will use to describe each day. See below (Yep, I gotta have a spreadsheet for everything).

Ok, this is enough to get started. We fly out Friday morning from Atlanta to LA, and I'll post again from LaLa Land. A great quote describing LA: "Tip the world over on its side and everything loose will land in Los Angeles".  Rather appropriate that we land in LA...
